Their Warden by keiiii Their Warden by keiiii
She freed them from the darkness above. She was their savior.
Then she trapped them inside her vase. She was their
Savior, she said to herself
as she caressed the porcelain prison,
making sure her pretty stars could
never escape.

My first entry for the Wacom Good VS Evil contest! (There MAY be a second one forthcoming -- we'll see if I can finish it on time!) 'Good VS Evil' is an incredibly versatile theme. I wanted to stay away from the typical stuff like angels and demons. This is about denial -- twisting the truth in your mind and warping evil into good. Lying to yourself in a futile attempt to escape the burden of remorse.

~~~
Painted in Adobe Photoshop CS4 from scratch. This took much longer than my usual stuff. I'll post some WIPs if you guys are interested.
Please don't mind the historical inaccuracies of the outfit. XD;;
This is amazing; might you ever post a tutorial on how you pulled off some of these effects. I love your work as it looks like you are painting with colored mercury or silk in most your pictures. Pallets that defy logic yet still work.
I don't have it for this particular picture, but I do have some progress screenshots of some of my other works. Maybe they can be of help. :) [link]
There's no real secret, just lots of blending using tablet stylus pressure variation.
