Step by step thingie for [link]

ONE is a discarded sketch that I initially came up with.

TWO is the sketch I chose to color. Believe or not, this is a refined version... The sketch was even rougher than this when I made the decision to color it.

THREE... just laying down the basic colors. I knew I wanted soft pastel tones, but wasn't sure where to go really.

FOUR I tried a basic shading with lavender as a test. I really liked the result, and decided to build the rest of the picture around it.

FIVE I do my "lineart" (if you can call it that) after the basic coloring and shading, as you can see. It works out great for me because my pictures revolve around the colors and the lighting, not around the lineart.

SIX and on: more details, color and contrast adjustments, etc.

I did this in Photoshop CS4, but the software is irrelevant; anything you're comfortable with will do. :)

Amazing job. A chicken scratch sketch turned into such a lovely piece.

That's interesting how the importance of the lineart is secondary for you, but then again it makes sense since you're colors really do stand out (which is what I love about them). I gotta learn how you do those light "knockouts". Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that's amazing.
Really helpful and really cool!

Ok. I swear. I'll finish the art tomorrow. I promise!
I read signatures. Got a problem with that?

All my sketches look crappy! I'm envious of people like :iconshilin: who make really awesome sketches.

Shilin is indeed talented on his/her style, but you have a unique style as well that is very talented! :D

Thanks for the tutorial! Now some question..

When you do your 'lineart' , did you do it below your sketch layer or above it? Also the basic colour too , do you have the layer below/above the sketch layer?

I think you must be having a long time drawing the hair detail. Am I right?

I may not knowing nothing about world , but I'm bored already.

Thanks, I love seeing this kind of stuff! I like how you concentrate on colors and lighting; it really brings your art to life. I'd like to try doing some art this way myself; my recent drawings are all about the lineart. Lighting sure can be tricky though!

Can I do anything of this caliber w/ Photoshop 2? Or Microsoft Image composer?

Great!
I wish I could paint... I can only color, that means I need lineart.

I'd like to have a great signature... ):
