Oguma from Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. He is arguably the single most powerful unit available to the player throughout the entire game. I think his hair is supposed to be longer... oh well. D:



The following information may be somewhat incorrect (it's been years since I played this game):

Despite being a mercenary, Oguma is loyal to Princess Sheeda. He used to be a slave -- those scars are not from battles, but from abuse. One day, he collapsed from a particularly brutal barrage of whipping. When his master ignored this and raised his whip again, Sheeda literally jumped in to shield him from the blow. (For those of you who watched the anime, they handled this scene rather differently... Anime!Sheeda doesn't do the shielding thing.)

If I recall correctly, this was the first time they met. Even though he was just a stranger, Sheeda couldn't watch him suffer so much. I believe she used her authority as the princess to free him, and Oguma has been loyal to her ever since.



...So yeah, now you know which character the title is referring to. Painted in Adobe Photoshop 7.0 from scratch as usual.
